The Canadian manufacturer has chosen a square shape for the device which is something new for the smartphones today. It sports metal frame and a rare panel made of soft material for more stable handling The screen of the upcoming flagship is 4.5-inch with a resolution of 1440 x 1440p. The square model boasts a pixel density of 453ppi. The screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 On the inside of BlackBerry Passport is integrated Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chip with 2.2GHz CPU with four cores and 3GB RAM.

It works with Adreno 330 GPU. It comes with 32GB storage and a microSD slot. The operating system that powers the model is BlackBerry 10.3 OS. The camera outfitted in the BlackBerry Passport is 13MP with LED flash and OIS. it can record video at 1080p@60fps. The connectivity features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and LTE. The new flagship is armored with QWERTY keyboard that has different design and functionality than the traditional keyboards. It works as a touchpad.

It supports gestures for commands like deleting words by swiping to left etc. BlackBerry claims that the new QWERTY keyboard makes the typing easier and more pleasant.
