Samsung was the first company that released a smartwatch almost one year ago. This year, the manufacturer is strengthening its positions for abundance of new smartwatches running on Tizen OS and a new model powered by Android Wear. Days before IFA Samsung made another announcement of an extraordinary smartwatch that can make phone calls – the Samsung Gear S. It has a display with 2-inch diagonal Super AMOLED. The design of the smartwatch is stylish with curved screen.
The resolution of the display is 480 x 360p. On the inside the Gear S is provided with dual-core silicon clocked at 1GHz. It works with 512MB RAM. The internal memory of the device is 4GB. Samsung Gear S is running on the authentic platform of Samsung, Tizen OS. It includes Power Saving Mode for more effective usage of the battery. It has S Voice and S Health pre-installed as well. The S Voice feature boasts improved functionality that enables users to operate the device via voice commands. The Samsung Gear S is water- and dust-resistant with the capabilities to survive dipping into water for up to 30 min and in 3.2 feet depth. It has IP67 certificate.
The cell the powers the device is a Li-ion battery with a capacity of 300mAh. The posted data for the device reveals that it will need recharging in every two days in typical use. The connectivity features provided in the model are impressive for a smartwatch. It supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and 3G. Samsung released a special neck accessory called Samsung Gear Circle that provides the smartwatch with the capability to make phone calls. The connection happens via Bluetooth.
