The CES 2015 in Las Vegas officially begins today. One of the first companies that announced their new devices that will be presented at the trade-show is the Taiwan-based manufacturer ASUS. Two new impressive smartphones debut at CES 2015 – the affordable ASUS Zenfone 2 and the camera-phone with 3x optical zoom lens, the ASUS Zenfone Zoom.
Zenfone 2 is outfitted with a 5.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1080p (pixel density of 403ppi) with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top of it. The phablet-sized handset stands-out with a stylish panel with curved rare panel and brushed metal finish. It has ultra-thin bezels – just 3.3mm. The smartphone is equipped with Intel Atom Z3580 chip with 64-bit architecture with quad-core 2.3GHz CPU and 4GB RAM. The smartphone comes in two versions – the advanced phone with 4GB RAM and a more modest variant with 2GB.
The platform running on the Zenfone 2 is ZenUI on top of Android 5.0 Lollipop. One of the nice features of the software is the SnapView app for improved privacy via passwords. On the rare side of the new phone of ASUS is packed a 13MP f/2.0 snapper with Pixelmaster tech of ASUS. It has Manual and HDR mode, True Tone flash etc. On the front panel lies a 5MP with 85-degree field view. It boasts Selfie Panoramas. ASUS Zenfone 2 comes with a 3000mAh cell. It supports 4G LTE and has dual-SIM capabilities. The new handset is adorned in Sheer Gold, Glamor Red, Osmium Black, Ceramic White and Gracier Gray. ASUS will release the device in spring. It costs only $199 off-contract (the mode equipped with 2GB RAM, Intel Z3560 1.8GHz chip). The expectations suggest that ASUS Zenfone 2 will land on markets across the globe, the US included.
ASUS Zenfone Zoom comes with similar specs as the new Zenfone. Its main advantage is the 3x optical zoom lens. ASUS claims that this is the ‘thinnest smartphone with a 3x optical zoom lens yet.’ The new camera-phone will be launched in Q2 2015 at price of $399 unlocked.
