Apple iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 are unveiled

This time of the year is much anticipated by fans of Apple’s high-end tablets because the new generations slates are ready to debut in the mobile arena. The new additions to the two main lines of tablets are officially announced.

The full-sized successor of iPad Air is the ultra-thin and light Apple iPad Air 2. It is packed with a 9.7-inch display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536p. The processor that powers the iPad Air 2 is Apple A8X chip. The official data for the device reveals that it boasts a faster performance with 40% compared to its predecessor. The camera on the back of the tablet is with 8MP and F/2.4. It has the capabilities to record 1080p video and even to take time-lapse videos. The camera has a second mic for stereo audio recording. This is a real advantage not only before the iPad Air but before the new flagship iPhone 6, as well. The front camera is also improved that can record HDR videos. The tablet is armored with TouchID fingerprint sensor. The iPad Air 2 supports Wi-Fi, MIMO antennas etc. The battery of the tablet can provide 10 hours juice for the device in normal use.

The color options for the full-sized slate include Gold, Silver and Space Gray. Apple sells the model for $499 for the variant with 16GB. The 64GB version of the tablet costs $599. The iPad Air 2 with LTE connectivity will be available for purchase for around $630.

The smaller sibling from the duo is Apple iPad mini 3. The specs and capabilities of the new device are slightly improved compared to its sibling. It features 7.9-inch Retina screen with a resolution of 2048 x 1536p. It sports slimmer panel – only 7.9mm thick. It is equipped with TouchID sensor and supports Apple Pay. The processor provided in the tablet is Apple A7. The main camera of the device is iSight on the back with 5MP coupled with HD FaceTime snapper on the front. It comes with several options in terms of storage, but not 32GB model. The available colors for the device include Space Gray, Gold and Silver. It costs $400 for the 16GB, $500 for the 64GB and $600 with 128GB. There are LTE-enabled models that are more expensive with $130.
