Many Galaxy S23 rumors have centered on improvements to the cameras, but battery life and charging times are another area where we’re looking for some adjustments. While the latter is still mostly unknown, a recent regulatory filing gives us a glimpse of the former.
A device with the SM-S9180 model number has been approved by China’s 3C regulatory authority. Given how similar the model number is to that of the Galaxy S22 Ultra, it is assumed that the aforementioned gadget is the Galaxy S23 Ultra (SM-S9080 in China). This is also supported by Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station, who claims that the “first new Snapdragon 8 Gen2 phone is linked to the Internet.”
There isn’t much we can gain from this other than the fact that it was made in Vietnam, though it has been established that the S23 Ultra was tested with a 25W EP-TA800 charger.
Although it may seem like a downgrade from the capabilities of the Galaxy S22 Ultra, it’s probable that this was just utilized for testing since Samsung no longer includes chargers with its flagship devices.
Although this indicates that Samsung will have the same 25W charging speeds for the regular and Plus versions of the Galaxy S23, another leaker, Ice Universe, isn’t overly enthused.

Many Samsung fans have urged the firm to enhance the charging rates on its flagship devices because faster charging speeds have become more common on many of the finest Android phones in recent years. Additionally, the Galaxy S22’s average battery life is one of our main gripes, so quicker charging would at least lessen the necessity of plugging it in pretty frequently. Having said that, we hope Samsung will at the very least provide us with a bigger battery for the basic Galaxy S23.
There is still opportunity to learn about battery and charging since Samsung isn’t anticipated to release the Galaxy S23 series until early 2023. We do not anticipate many shocks, though, given the alleged similarities with the flagships for the following year.
