This summer Amazon finally released its first smartphone named Amazon Fire Phone in the States. The phone boasts extraordinary features with the unique Amazon Fire OS (based on Android) with 3D effect. The screen of the new smartphone is with a 4.7-inch diagonal, IPS with a resolution of 720p. In the heart of the model is provided a quad-core 2.2GHz processor with Snapdragon 800 chip and 2GB RAM. It has a primary 13MP camera set on the back and unique combination of front facing sensors that create the 3D effect of the user interface.
Amazon Fire Phone has abundance of connectivity features, including Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth, GPS and 4G LTE. It is powered by a 2400mAh battery. The storage is with two options – 32GB or 64GB. The Amazon Fire Phone brings a new experience for mobile users. However the interest towards the device is not translating in impressive sales numbers. Recent rumors reveal that the company has sold around 26000 units of the Fire Phone which is definitely not impressive news for the first months since the debut of the model.
One of the reasons for the low sales numbers might be the limited availability of the phone. For now the AT&T carrier offers the handset exclusively at price of $199.99 with two-year contract. The latest news about the model is that it is coming to more markets soon. The first countries that will welcome the Fire Phone are the UK and Germany. It will be available for purchase via the local Amazon sites on 30th of September. The carrier O2 will offer the Amazon Fire Phone exclusively in the country. The device will be offered with the programs of the carrier beginning with £0 down payment and £33/month. Deutsche Telekom will offer exclusively the new smartphone in Germany at price of €1 and €44.95/month.
