iPhone 6 Plus to be the name of the upcoming phablet, rumors say

Today is the big day when Apple will unveil its new flagships. The rumor mill had the busiest time in the last weeks for delivering more and more leaks and rumors full of information, photos and details about the upcoming iPhone(s) with 4.7-inch and with 5.5-inch displays. The smaller device often steals the focus in the leaks and gossips while the unannounced phablet is covered in mystery. One of the biggest questions that we all are curious to get answered soon is what the name of the first phablet will be. The speculations from the last weeks suggested that Apple might choose a combination of its tablet line iPad Air and the iPhone for the name of the device – iPhone Air.

Just hours before the event sources from Japan give a new theory for the moniker of the model. According to them the 4.7-inch phone will be called Apple iPhone 6. This is the name we all use when mentioning the upcoming flagship. The sources claim that the phablet will have the name Apple iPhone 6 Plus. The new theory is an object of speculations and discussions because it is not a tradition of Apple to add “Plus” in the names of its devices. Howevr the company clearly shows that it is not afraid to break traditions, so it is not impossible to add the Plus to the extra large smartphone.

One of the reasons that makes us believe the new rumors is that the source of the gossips is the same that revealed the named of the Apple iPhone 5C and Apple iPhone 5S last year. The expectations for the iPhone 6 Plus include the same color options as the current flagship iPhone 5S. This means that it is coming in silver, gold and space grey shells. The gossips suggest that it is running on iOS 8 out-of-the-box. It is expected to land on markets in the last weeks of the year.
