As we eagerly anticipate Google’s fall event, the Pixel Watch is the latest gadget to tease us.
We get a nice look at the design of the coming Pixel Watch in Google’s most recent video, both as highly polished renders and on the wrists of a few lucky users. On October 6, at the MadeByGoogle event, all of the Pixel Watch’s specifics should be revealed.
To give us a sense of what it would be like to use the Google smartwatch on our own, we are given a demonstration as soon as the video starts. In a flash, Google switches to renders of the watch’s body before displaying a watch with a lime green band. The bands are then simulated to fit together for our enjoyment. The bands are locked into place when the circular watch twists and then settles back into place.
The silicon bands on the Pixel Watch are interesting because they mimic the infinity loop bands that Fitbit includes with some of its best smartwatches. Speaking of Fitbit, the movie walks us through a few of the watch faces, all of which stand out against the dark background as being clear and uncomplicated. Between a user’s steps taken and calories burnt is a Fitbit logo on one of these watch faces.
It was rumored that Fitbit’s health and fitness app would be integrated into the forthcoming Pixel Watch, which runs Wear OS 3. As the clip comes to a close, we get one more glimpse of a Pixel Watch with a grey band and a model wearing the watch.
Unlike the Pixel 7, whose first impressions video treated us to the preorder date, the Pixel Watch, regrettably, did not. After the MadeByGoogle event concludes on October 6, we anticipate that preorders for the Pixel Watch will open, much like they did for the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. But once everything is said and done, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
At the fall event, Google will also display its newest line of Nest gadgets. This is a wise decision given that Google-powered smart home device control apps have been teased for the Pixel Watch.
