Samsung Gear S is one of the latest models smartwatches of the rich collection of Samsung. The new timepiece has 3G support on board which means that it is able to make phone calls. The Gear S sports the vastest screen of all the smartwatches offered by the Korean manufacturer. The new device has dimensions of 39.8 x 58.3 x 12.5mm. It boasts a 2-inch glass Super AMOLED which is slightly curved. It features a resolution of 320 x 480p. The processor that powers the device is dual-core ticking at 1GHz and paired with 512MB RAM. The Gear S is provided with 4GB native memory. It is running on the authentic Samsung’s OS Tizen. The connectivity features supported by the model are more than the capabilities of the most popular smartwatches today.
It supports Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 4.1, quad-band 2G/3G. The device can make phone calls with the help of a special accessory that Samsung named Gear Circle. It is a neck accessory that enables the Gear S to receive and make calls. The smartwatch is water- and dust-resistant with IP67 certificate. It is packed with a wide variety of extra features like gyroscope, accelerometer, heart-rate monitor, compass, barometer, UV sensors and ambient light. The battery of the smartwatch is with a capacity of 300mAh.
The posted official data for the Gear S reveals that it can keep the device working for around 2 days before it needs recharging. When Samsung announced the Tizen OS-based model last month, it promised to bring the smartwatch to the US in the fall. The major carriers in the country are ready to release the timepiece – Sprint, Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile. The exact launch date is still unknown. The price of the Gear S is not announced yet. The color options for the model are white and black.
