The newest addition to the big HTC family was announced right on time on 8th of October on NYC at the Double Exposure event. The speculations about the upcoming device from the Taiwanese giant were numerous. There was no doubt that the expected new handset from the company will bring some special features related to the camera. Meet the HTC Desire Eye. In terms of specs and capabilities it reminds a lot to the HTC One (E8) released earlier this year. One of the special features that make the Desire Eye more extraordinary is its pair of cameras.
But let’s first mention the rest of the specs of the new phone. It fascinates with a 5.2-inch display LCD. The resolution is 1080p. It is a large device with dimensions 151.7 x 73.8 x 8.5 mm. The Desire Eye is outfitted with the characteristic design for the Desire line and boasts water-resistant capabilities with IPX7 certificate. In the gut of the handset is provided a quad-core processor set at 2.3GHz, working together with 2GB RAM and with Snapdragon 801 chip included in the configuration. 16GB storage are assured out-of-the-box with the possibility to increase them via microSD cards. On the rare side and on the front of the HTC Desire Eye are armored cameras two 13MP cameras provided with dual-LED flash. The rare sensor has f/2.0 aperture with lens with 28m while the front sensor has f/2.2 aperture and 20mm lens. Both have the capabilities to record 1080p video. The front camera is provided with dedicated mic which brings the total number of equipped microphones in the device to 3.
The operating system running on the HTC Desire Eye is Android 4.4 KitKat with Sense 6 UI. HTC provides two special apps related to the cameras – new HTC Zoe and HTC Eye Experience. The connectivity features equipped in the new addition include Bluetooth 4.0, dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, NFC, GPS and LTE. The cell that provides juice for the phone is with a capacity of 2400mAh. It is offered in red, blue and white color variants. AT&T will release the Desire Eye exclusively at first. Later on the model will reach more markets.
