Huawei is experienced with folding phones. However, to be fair, foldables aren’t that inexpensive to begin with seeing as how the technology is still relatively new compared to more conventional smartphone displays. When the company unveiled its first ever foldable, it was crazily pricey.
The good news is that Huawei may have something new in the works in the form of the Huawei P50 Pocket New for those who want to possess a foldable but don’t want to pay outrageous price. This is in accordance with a tweet from @RODENT950, who gave some probable details about the specs and cost of the supposed handset.
It indicates that Huawei will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor, which is inferior than the Snapdragon 888 chipset featured in the P50 Pocket from 2021, in order to make the phone less expensive. The cover display will reportedly be removed as well, which might lower overall manufacturing costs. Lastly, the pricing may be approximately 710 euros.
This idea is intriguing because it was previously suggested that Samsung may be developing less expensive foldables as well as bringing foldable technology to its A-series of mid-range smartphones. If this phone is authentic, Huawei might have beaten Samsung to the market.
There is no indication of the expected release date for the new Huawei P50 Pocket New, but most of us wouldn’t be able to buy one anyhow given that Huawei is still prohibited in the US.
