When you listen to music on YouTube Music on your smartphone, does the screen stay lit? You are not alone, though. Google upgraded the YouTube Music app for Android last week (version 5.23.50). A weird bug in the upgraded app causes the screen to remain on when the music is playing even when you are not using it.
Version 5.23.50 of the program, which was released late last week, is causing the problem. The screen will remain on even if you don’t interact with the device further when you are in any area of the app, from the Now Playing UI to YouTube Music’s Home feed.
No matter where you are in the app’s user interface (UI), whether it be the Now Playing screen or YouTube Music’s Home feed, the problem still exists. Regardless of the screen timeout interval selected in the device settings, the screen remains active. 9To5 Google claims to have experienced this issue on Samsung devices running Android 12L and Pixel smartphones running Android 13.
