Samsung Z1 is announced

It seems we have been waiting forever for the announcement of the first smartphone of Samsung that runs on its own platform – Tizen OS. The Samsung Z1 was supposed to debut last year but for some reasons the phone never made it to the spotlight. Not long after the alleged announcement of the smartphone new rumors revealed that Samsung will release an entry-level device powered by Tizen OS. The most recent reports gave the clue that Samsung Z1 will be released in India next week. A bit earlier than expected we can share the news that the first Tizen OS-powered smartphone is launched in India.

The handset boasts a 4-inch WVGA screen. It works with a dual-core CPU 1.2GHz and 768MB RAM. The modest amount of storage by default is only 4GB. Users can add some extra storage via microSD cards. GPU that is included in the configuration is Mali 400. Overall the Samsung Z1 is exactly what we expected to see – a low-end smartphone that will “test the waters” for the new platform of the company. Samsung Z1 is powered by Tizen OS 2.3. The two cameras found in the budget device are a 3.1MP snapper on the back and a VGA camera on front. It supports GPS, 3G, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The battery that is equipped in the phone is 1500mAh. The Samsung Z1 comes in Wine Red, White and Black. It can be purchased for INR 5700 ($92) retail price.
