Alcatel and Archos were in hurry to announce a bunch of new devices – tablets, smartphones and wearable tech only few days before the CES 2015 trade show that takes place in Las Vegas. The Chinese mobile giant ZTE also has something to present ahead of the event. The company took the wraps off from a new smartphone ZTE Imperial II and a smart projector ZTE SPro. Both devices along with some of the recent additions of the manufacturer will be presented at CES 2015.
The first smartphone of the company for this year is ZTE Imperial II. If the name sounds familiar to you, it is because this is the successor of the entry-level ZTE Imperial released in June 2013. It is needless to say that the new phone comes with rather improved specs compared to its predecessor. It is armored with a 5-inch screen with a resolution of 540 x 960p. The platform running on the mid-ranger is Android 4.4.2 KitKat. ZTE Imperial II is a decent affordable smartphone packed with a quad-core processor set at 1.2GHz with Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chip.
In terms of RAM and storage, the phone boasts 1GB and 8GB respectively. The native memory is expandable via microSD cards. The rare camera is exactly what we expect to see in a low-end device – a 5MP sensor. With ZTE Imperial II users can make video calls and take selfies with the 1MP camera above the screen. What we don’t expect to see in an entry-level device is support for 4G LTE connectivity. ZTE Imperial II is definitely an attractive device for those who are looking for a budget phone with abundance of features and connectivity capabilities. The battery of the handset is with a capacity of 2300mAh. The phone is up-for-sells in U.S. Cellular at price of $0.01 with two-year commitment or $149.99 with the pre-paid programs.
ZTE SPro is a smart projector that seems to a new variant of the Sprint LivePro, packed with Wi-Fi-only connectivity. It costs $399 and can be pre-ordered now. Shipping date for the device is 6th of January.
