Jolla phone hits the markets in India

Jolla phone is the first smartphone running on Sailfish OS. The handset boasts a decent package of specs. It is available for purchase in markets across Europe and the phone finally is making its way to India. The retailer that offers the Jolla phone is Snapdeal. It is expected that more merchants in the country will offer the extraordinary device. The Jolla phone brings something extra for customers who buy the handset in the first 90 days after release. They will get for free Other Half in colors: Aloe, Keira Black and Poppy Red. The retailer offers the Jolla phone for INR 16499 (around $270) unlocked.

The smartphone is provided with 4.5-inch qHD screen. It is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 2. The new device has a dual-core processor under the hood ticking at 1.4GHz. The configuration includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chip paired with 1GB RAM. The platform running on the Jolla phone is Sailfish OS. It is developed by engineers previously working in Nokia. The platform is based on the MeeGo operating system. One of the advantages of the new operating system is the gesture-based UI. It can run Android apps.

On the rare panel of the handset lies an 8MP camera with LED flash and the possibilities to record 1080p video. On the front side is provided a 2MP camera. The battery armored in the smartphone has a capacity of 2100mAh. The connectivity features supported by the model include Wi-Fi, LTE, 3G, Bluetooth, NFC and GPS. The battery of the device is a 2100mAh cell.

The first Sailfish OS-based handset was officially released a year ago in Europe. It costs €399 off-contract (entering price). The Jolla phone was expected to arrive in India in August, but the launching was delayed. It comes in different colors.
